RELATIONSHIP ANALYSIS

- COMMITMENT - EXCEPTIONS -

There is an exception to the rule that in committed relationships there should be an aspect between one person's Jupiter and the other's Saturn (see: Relationship Analysis - Commitment).
The exception occurs when one of the partners has a Jupiter-Saturn aspect within her/his own chart.
Aspects between Jupiter and Saturn may be any aspect used within this system and  normal orbs may be used (see Aspects and Houses for aspects and orbs).

If we think about it, this exception to the rule makes sense: if one person is busy integrating (in one way or another depending on the aspect) the two forces represented by Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (restriction) within her/himself, s/he will be less preoccupied about finding the missing piece (Jupiter or Saturn) in another person in order to be fulfilled.

The other person entering into a relationship with a person who already has a Jupiter - Saturn aspect in her/his chart, will benefit in an indirect and more passive way, by experiencing the integration occurring within the partner.

When this exception to the rule occurs, the relationship analysis focuses directly on the other aspects occurring between the two charts.

One example of the exception to the Jupiter-Saturn rule in synastry is the famous relationship between Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Although they never married, their relationship lasted more than 25 years and ended only with Tracy's death. There is no Jupiter-Saturn aspect between the two charts, but if we take a look at Katharine Hepburn's heliocentric chart (below) we note a close trine between Jupiter at 17° Cancer and Saturn at 19° Pisces.
